TRAFFIC ENGINEERING - A SOURCE OF PERSONAL SATISFACTION
The article discusses the personal satisfaction that comes from being a traffic engineer, and the attitudes that are necessary to bring about that satisfaction. Professional integrity in the job is a necessity, and public acceptance is a payoff. The latter is not automatic but when it does come, it is a strong indication of success. The aesthetic reward is also discussed. Effort in the area of human relations is also important. Effort in this area should be directed in 3 areas: relationship with public officials; a personal policy of being above legal and moral reproach; and decision making based on quantitative and human factors.
