ROAD TRAFFIC (DRIVER LICENSING AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS) ACT 1989. CHAPTER 22

Chapter 22 of this act amends the law relating to driving licences, and regulates driver information systems. Sections are provided on: (1) abolition of special licences for driving heavy goods vehicles (hgv) and public service vehicles (psv); (2) special provisions relating to licensing of large goods vehicles and passenger carrying vehicles; (3) exceptions to prohibitions on driving without a licence; (4) tests of competence; (5) refusal or revocation of licences; (6) compulsory training courses for motor cyclists; (7) definitions of driver information systems; (8) requirements for a licence to operate such systems; (9) operators licences; and (11) sanctions for operating outside the license area or for a breach in licence conditions.
