CURRENT STATUS OF ALTERNATIVE AUTOMOTIVE POWER SYSTEMS AND FUELS. VOLUME IV. ELECTRIC AND HYBRID POWER SYSTEMS
Electric vehicles, possible alternatives to conventional automobiles, are discussed with respect to electric vehicle history, power plant configurations, performance characteristics, and current and projected development status. Information is given on hybrid heat engine/battery and hybrid heat engine/flywheel vehicles, including design factors and some analytical and experimental results. Other energy storage concepts are briefly described, and the development status of hybrid vehicles is summarized. Vehicle design goals for a six passenger automobile are presented.
