The paper describes a method of selecting public transport mode, which was designed as a result of numerous studies of the needs of yugoslav towns, carried out at the traffic faculty in Belgrade. The basic characteristics of the method are based on the fact that the selection of a transport mode is studied together with the selection of transport lines and the continuous process of evaluation at each step of use of the method. Problems arise with the design of long-term development plans for urban public passenger transport. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 818711. (TRRL)
