TRAFFIC SURVEY SYSTEM IN HUNGARY. SECOND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ROAD TRAFFIC MONITORING

This article describes the unified system of traffic surveys which has been developed in Hungary. It consists of the following: (1) general traffic census of the national road system; (2) general traffic census of the local road system; (3) monitoring traffic flows on the national road system; (4) continuous observation of traffic volumes at border crossing points; (5) country-wide origin-destination survey; and (6) other regular or ad-hoc surveys (such as speed measurements, axle load, or censuses of long distance traffic). Brief details of each are provided, including information about the areas covered and methods of data collection, storage and publication. (TRRL)
