FINITE LAYER ANALYSIS OF LAYERED PAVEMENTS SUBJECTED TO HORIZONTAL LOADING. PROCEEDINGS OF THE SIXTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON NUMERICAL METHODS IN GEOMECHANICS, 11-15 APRIL 1988, INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA. VOLUMES 1 - 3
A finite layer method is presented which may be used to compute stresses, strains and displacements in horizontally layered materials subjected to horizontal loading. Such results are of use in pavement design where the action of horizontal braking, turning and acceleration forces applied by pneumatic tyres cause deformation of the pavement. The finite layer method enables solutions to be obtained very easily on a microcomputer. (Author/TRRL)
