GEOMECHANICAL APPLICATIONS OF FULLY COUPLED, TRANSIENT THERMOELASTICITY. PROCEEDINGS OF THE SIXTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON NUMERICAL METHODS IN GEOMECHANICS, 11-15 APRIL 1988, INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA. VOLUMES 1 - 3
In this paper the equations for fully coupled, transient thermoelastic deformations are presented and a numerical procedure is suggested for the approximate solution of these equations. Solutions are obtained for several thermomechanical problems in geomechanics and it is concluded that the application of a fully coupled theory provides solutions which, for most materials, are not very different to those obtained from the more traditional, semi-coupled theory.
