BLUE LINE READY FOR RIDERS
Los Angeles' Blue Line light rail system is scheduled to begin operation on 19 miles of the planned 22 mile line on July 16. As an alternative to already congested roads, the light rail line will be an elevated, grade-separated operation whose flexibility will enable it to travel along a wide center median at one location and local streets in a single-track loop at another. Ridership is expected to be high, 87 foot long articulated vehicles will carry passengers and passenger comfort and safety are top priorities.
