CRACKING MODEL FOR FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF CONCRETE MATERIALS
The underlying concept of the incorporation of nonlinear fracture mechanics into a smeared-cracking model is discussed, and a new smeared-cracking model based on nonlinear fracture mechanics and the modified Voigt-Reuss model is proposed. It is shown that this model comprises, as special cases, well known previous works such as the crack band theory and the composite model. Numerical analysis by the proposed model are presented. Example problems are selected such that the results can be contrasted with those due to linear-elastic fracture mechanics. It is noted that this present study is confined to opening-mode cracks only.
