SIMPLE PROCEDURE FOR DETERMINING CAP-PLASTICITY-MODEL PARAMETERS
The paper first describes a simple and reliable procedure to relate the cap-model parameters to the commonly performed soil tests. The procedure is suuperior to the conventional method, in that it greatly reduces the effort needed to implement the cap-model parameters. The paper then proceeds to describes a flexible and general purpose finite element program for the analyses of several typical practical embankment problems using the procedure developed for model parameters. Examples are given which involve several practical aspects of embankment problems: undrained condition, embankment widening and rising, multiple-layer foundations soils, and measures for improving embankment stability.
