MARTY CRITICAL EXPERIMENTS SUMMARY OF 4% ENRICHED UO2 CORES STUDIED FOR NMSR
The nuclear design information for the NS Savannah propulsion system was developed in a series of critical experiments. The Atomic Energy Commission issued a license to Babcock & Wilcox to conduct these experiments using 4% enriched UO2. The fuel rods were used in full scale mock- ups, rather than in parameter surveys, the parameters having been previously established by the AEC. The test instruments, methods of testing and test results are documented. These results served as the basis for the final core design.
