ESTIMATION OF SUBGRADE RESILIENT MODULUS FROM STANDARD TESTS
The paper describes a procedure to relate the soil-index properties and the moduli obtained from unconfined compression tests to resilient modulus. Two models are described and demonstrated for eleven soils from Tennessee: one model provides an estimation of the breakpoint resilient modulus used in several design algorithms; the second model provides a general relationship for the stress-softening response of fine-grained soils as a function of cyclic deviator stress. The details of the study are described and the results are discussed.
