PAVEMENT PRESERVATION PRIORITY IN CLARK COUNTY
Clark County, Nevada uses three life-extending techniques in its Pavement Preservation Program to keep roads in shape. The program provides a new emphasis on regular maintenance functions with the use of better repair technologies and more planned maintenance programs. Regularly scheduled surface sealing, crack sealing or pothole patching helps prevent premature asphalt deterioration and extend the useful life of paved surfaces. Fog sealing performed on asphalt pavements less than seven years old, is described. Sand sealing is performed in the same manner. Crack sealing, performed during the winter months, plays an important role in the overall preservation program.
