FHWA TARGETS TRAINING AFTER PMS DEADLINE
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is focusing on pavement management system (PMS) educational programs to help states comply with its PMS requirements. Three groups, including FHWA, AASHTO (American Associaton of State Highway Transportation Officials), and TRB (Transportation Research Board) have developed a new trainig course. AASHTO is developing PMS guidelines that are an update of guidelines developed in 1985. The Iowa Department of Transportation and the Iowa State University will be offering a seminar on innovative equipment in pavement maintenance, and the FHWA is offering a specialized symposium on PMS focused on local governments.
