Three solutions were investigated as options to repair the problem of a layer of voids formed just below the surface and above the top layer of reinforcing steel in the construction of a high performance concrete pavement. The options were as follows: remove and replace pavement; excavate using a scarifier to the lower portions of the surface void system and replace with a modified portland cement concrete; and epoxy injection. The first procedure was applicable for surface areas that could be confirmed as being larger than one panel in size and for critical areas. The second procedure was applicable for a series of areas that were on the shoulders of the pavement and for non critical areas. The third procedure was applicable for small areas in critical sections. Details of the procedures are described.
