PREDICTING DUI RECIDIVISM WITH THE MMPI
A total of 100 DUI (driving under the influence) first offenders and 100 DUI recidivists were compared on the MMPI Validity and Clinical Scales, Wiggins Content Scales and MacAndrew Alcoholism Scale scores. While some statistically significant differnces appeared with univariate analyses, multivariate analysis demonstrated that the best set of variables predicted only 10% of the variance. Results suggest that the MMPI has limited utility in predicting DUI recidivism.
