EFFECT OF SYSTEM UNCERTAINTY ON CONTROL OF SEISMIC-EXCITED BUILDINGS
The effect of uncetainties in parametric identification on the performance of the active control system for seismic-excited buildings is investigated. A sensitivity study is performed with respect to various control algorithms that have been demonstrated experimentally to be feasible for earthquake excited buildings. A simple simulation approach is used to examine the sensitivity of the active control system with respect to uncertainties in structural identification. It was found that the control efficiency is not sensitive to the accuracy of the damping estimation for all control algorithms. For some control algorithms, however, care should be taken in estimating the stiffness of the structure.
