THE NEED FOR SPECIAL TRANSPORT SERVICE FOR ELDERLY AND HANDICAPPED PEOPLE
VILKA AELDRE BEHOEVER FAERDTJAENST?
The purpose of the present investigation was to analyze social and medical background factors among elderly who use special transport service (subsidized travel, St). The gerontological and geriatric population study of persons 70 years and older in Gothenburg is the basis for this presentation. The study is longitudinal. Elderly people with subsidized travel, St, were living alone, felt more lonely and ill more often than elderly people without St. They also had more musculoskeletal problems but in many other medical respects most people with St did not differ very much from those without St. (TRRL)
