RECONSTRUCTION OF ROAD PAVEMENTS AFTER PIPE WORKS

At the beginning of 1984 a research project at the national road laboratory (nrl), Denmark, resulted in a report, which draws up a set of provisional guidelines for pavement restoration after the laying or repair of pipes beneath the road pavement. The report highlights the problems arising from the comprehensive project of establishing a Danish natural gas network and aims at improving quality and reducing the total costs (including the maintenance costs) in connection with pipe works in road areas. Since its publication, the report has been extensively used by road boards, contractors, network owners, consulting engineers etc. This technical report describes the main issues of the report and its use based on two years' of experience.(a) see also IRRD 820016 and 820017.
