STRUCTURAL DESIGN GUIDE FOR RESIDENTIAL STREET PAVEMENTS: SOME POINTS OF EMPHASIS. 27TH ARRB REGIONAL SYMPOSIUM, LAUNCESTON, TASMANIA, 1989. PROGRAM AND PAPERS

Over the past decade, the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) has been very much part of the preparation of two pavement design guides: the naasra guide to the structural design of road pavements and the structural design guide for residential street pavements. The latter of these guides comes as a result of a successful joint venture between local government and ARRB. One hundred and sixty local government authorities contributed to the venture financially and 80 authorities participated in the background test program. The Launceston symposium provides an appropriate opportunity to launch the completed design guide after the mammoth effort put in by all parties concerned. It also provides an opportunity to tell others exactly how pavement designers have interpreted, or attempted to interpret earlier drafts of the guide. This paper discloses the more important of these interpretations, specifically those relating to design CBR, design traffic and design thickness. (Author/TRRL)
