SOME THEORETICAL APPROACHES ABOUT REINFORCED EMBANKMENTS ON WEAK SOIL
This paper has two aims: a) to show that the finite element method takes into account the major differences between the behaviour of the embankments reinforced with geotextile, and the non-reinforced ones. This method also quantifies the efficiency of a geotextile according to its stiffness; and b) to present a new method for the calculation of the limit equilibrium of embankments which takes into account the geotextile strains and the interface slipping. An example is presented, where the two methods are used. (Author/TRRL)
