TRANSPORTATION COSTS OF RAW MATERIALS AND OTHER INTERMEDIATE PRODUCTS OF THE EXPORT INDUSTRY

This study is a sequel to the 1987 study "transport costs and competitiveness in export" (IRRD 809827). This report deals with domestic transport costs connected to export goods. The report contains an input-output analysis. The production value of the industry was 238 billion fim in 1985. The value of exports was 82 billion fim. The domestic transport costs of raw materials and intermediate products used in producing export goods makes up ca. 5% of the value of the exports. These costs are about evenly distributed among direct and indirect transport costs. Roughly estimated, 12-14%'s worth of transport costs are included in export products. (TRRL)
