ASPHALT '90 - SPECIAL REPORT. ASPHALT ADDITIVES OFFER ADDED PAVING OPTIONS
A summary is presented of polymer additives, primarily polymers, for paving construction. Each additive affects asphalt properties differently, but generally, they increase softening point; reduce temperature susceptibility; increase cold flow; lower brttleness temperature; impart elastic recovery; resist deformation; and increase low temperature ductility. The additives discussed include thermoplastic polymers, thermoset polymers, antioxidants, chopped fibers, and sulphur.
