VERSATILE EQUIPMENT CARVES TIGHT TRENCH
This article describes a trenching job in New Mexico which involved centering a sewer between a water main and the pavement on about 5000 ft of the project and laying another 2000 ft of pipe below the water table after special dewatering efforts diverted flows. The trenching work was accomplished using a relatively small John Deere 490D hydraulic excavator because of the limited swing room and tight conditions along much of the job. Details of the trenching operations are provided.
