A METHOD TO CALCULATE THE PRESSURE FIELD INDUCED BY A CAVITATING PROPELLER
From Experiments it is known that a cavitating propeller can produce large pressure fluctuations on a ship's hull. This is for the greater part due to the volume variation of the sheet cavity on the propeller blade. It is of importance to find a description of the cavity volume as a function of the angular position of the blade. In this paper a method is presented to calculate this volume. The method is based on a well-known linearized theory about cavity flow past a hydrofoil. When this volume is known the pressure field can be found.
