DESIGN OF AN EXPERIMENTAL POST-TENSIONED SEGMENTAL CONCRETE BOX GIRDER BRIDGE
This report covers the design of an experimental Post-tensioned Segmental Concrete Box Girder Bridge intended for the Second Test Track Bridge which is to be constructed after the completion of the first research cycle at the Pavement Durability Test Track, which is located at the Pennsylvania State University. This type of bridge was chosen for the potential advantages it offers in bridge construction, such as: initial construction economy, simplicity of construction, expeditious construction, reduced maintenance, greater aesthetic value and standardization of construction. To provide the prospective researchers with a logical basis for their research proposal, the report lists engineering decisions and assumptions, not covered by existing specifications, which will have to be substantiated, verified or disproved by the testing of the structure.
