TRAFFIC ANALYSIS. NEW TECHNOLOGY AND SOLUTIONS
This book describes the statistical, mathematical and physical tools (microcomputer software, video based data collection systems etc), used in traffic investigation. The following subjects are covered: the nature of and need for traffic data; methods of experimentation; methods to test hypotheses for data relating to vehicle counts, speed and travel studies, origin-destination studies, vehicle trip generation, parking surveys, road safety, and environmental and energy impacts. Recent developments in vehicle detection, traffic logging equipment, instrumented vehicles and video techniques are also discussed. The material presented in the book was initially prepared as part of a series of courses in traffic engineering held at monash university in may 1986. (TRRL)
