THE NHTSA EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES PROGRAM AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO HIGHWAY SAFETY. TECHNICAL REPORT
A brief description is given of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) initiatives and project plans, together with a description of recommended projects which could be initiated at the State level and which are consistent with the new focus of EMS as it relates to highway safety. EMS's areas of primary emphasis are as follows: motor vehicle injury prevention/reduction; promotion of trauma care systems; and promotion of voluntary standards. The report covers FY 1985 project plan; state and community highway safety EMS projects; and state highway safety and EMS program coordination. The North Carolina Trauma Center Outreach Program and the House and Senate Appropriations Conference report are attached.
