DETERMINING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF A COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION AND COUNSELING PROGRAM ON DUI OFFENDERS BASED ON SELF REPORTS. THESIS
A research inventory was developed by an SB-38 program counselor in collaboration with the Health Science Department of California State University, Long Beach. The inventory was administered to 418 clients in the SB-38 program in the South Coast Counseling Center in Orange County, Calfornia. Program effectiveness was determined through the respondents' self reports. The findings revealed that increased length of time in the SB-38 program led to increased: recognition of an alcohol problem; intention to never drink again; attribution of quitting point to SB-38; and abstention rates from drinking on the parts of the respondents.
