ALCOHOLIC PERSONALITY TRAIT AND FAMILY DYNAMICS OF ALCOHOL MISUSERS. DISSERTATION
This study examines the relationship between alcoholic personality trait and two dimensions of family dynamics (cohesion and adaptibility) across levels of alcohol misuse (DUI, non-DUI), drinking pattern (problem, social), and age. No differences were evidenced for family cohesion or family adaptibility across legal status or age. No differences were evidenced in alcoholic personality trait across age. The results of this study support the literature regarding aloholic personality of people receiving DUI arrest, as well as support the need for assessment of such individuals' alcohol problems to enhance efficacy of social consequences applied to people demonstrating alcohol misuse behavior patterns. This research also supports prior studies regarding evidenced patterns of greater variance from balanced ranges of family cohesion and family adaptability in family systems of people with dysfunctional alcoholic behavior.
