Using an investigatory approach based on the life story method, this study aims to highlight the points of similarity and divergence in the attitudes of young male and young female drivers (between the ages of 18 and 25) towards drinking and driving. Differences in the norms and beliefs derived from their experience of driving, drinking, and road accidents, and significnce they attach to these phenomena, are illustrated within the framework of social learning concepts.
