WORLD TRENTDS IN VEHICLE DIESEL - DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE CRITERIA --XXI FISTIA CONGRESS, BELGRADE, 2-6 JUNE, 1986, VOLUME 1.
A number of fairly dynamic changes are taking place within the world markets for high speed diesel engines as well as in programs by principal manufacturers to further enhance the diesel's performance and reliability. The vehicle markets, and primarily those concerned with passenger cars and light-duty trucks now annually consume over two-thirds of the total world unit volume and continued growth is projected. Globally the vehicle diesel industry is confronted by a differentiated pattern of power requirements and politico-economic conditions that foster technology transfer and/or affiliate manufacturing relationships. As these changes occur, so will significant new levels of diesel performance during the next decade utilizing advanced electronics, highly sophisticated research and development tools, and high temperature and lighter weight materials.
