EXPERT SYSTEMS: COMING OF AGE OR SELLING OUT?
The case is made that the much boasted artificial intelligence system has fallen way short of its mark as a stand alone system which would be used by many facilities apart from conventional software. Although expert systems are installed in a number of facilities, they remain virtually unused. The current approach is to use them in conjunction with conventional software to solve problems.
