PC-BASED DATA-ACQUISITION SYSTEM FOR STRUCTURAL MONITORING
The design, implementation, and operation of a data-acquisition system based on a PC-compatible computer designed for use in a 2-year data-collection project in China is described. The system requires minimal operator intervention over that time and meets the strict reliability and robustness criteria required to ensure the success of the project. The aims and basic components of the instrumentation are briefly described, and the design requirements, data storage strategy, and the technical details involved in the implementation of the PC-based data acquisition system are discussed.
