DETERIORATION OF A WALL COMPLEX CONSTRUCTED OF REINFORCED EARTH. DISCUSSION
This is a discussion of the above paper published in this journal, Volume 39, No. 1. The discusser, A.C.S. Smith points out that the failure of one of the reinforced earth walls noted by the author, was, in fact, caused by the failure of an impressed cathodic protection system designed by a specialist consultant. It is noted that there is nothing in the reinforced earth construction described by the authors that contradicts accepted theory and knowledge of the application of reinforced earth technology built to date. This discussion is followed by a reply by the authors.
