DRAINED PRINCIPAL STRESS ROTATION IN SATURATED SAND. DISCUSSION

This is a discussion of above paper published in this journal Volume 38, No. 1. The discussers (A.S.F. Sayo, Y.P. Vaid) present experimental evidence that shows the BS may not remain symmetrical about alpha=0 plane after the sand has been subjected to principal stress rotation on either sides of the vertical. They caution against the conclusion that the strain response along a given stress path is independent of the prior stress history, provided current stress state lies on the BS. This is follkowed by a reply by the author.
