MULTI-FACETED, MULTI-FUNCTIONAL POLYMER MODIFIED CONCRETE
Polymer-modified concrete is a material which offers a unique combination of properties for repair and overlays of concrete bridges and repairs of structural concrete. The principal benefits include improved adhesion, reduced permeability to chlorides and other pollutants without the problems associated with a full water vapour barrier, increased flexural strength and wear resistance, and superior performance in thin overlays. These benefits are achieved using a material which can be mixed, placed and finished using conventional techniques. Further details of the benefits of polymer-modified concrete are given in this article, along with a table giving the recommended mix design for optimum results.
