METRO-NORTH'S POWER PLAY
As the new solid-state rectifier substations passed their final test for implementation, Metro-North recently shut down its last remaining rotary converter. The rotary converters had been in service since 1906 making a mark in railroad electrification history. The new substations represent a maintenance free, highly reliable and economical electric supply to the line.
