DEFLECTIONS IN A ROAD SUBJECTED TO TEST LOADING. PRELIMINARY RESULTS FROM THREE SWEDISH ROADS

DEFORMATION I VAEGEN VID PROVBELASTNING. DELRESULTAT FRAAN TRE SVENSKA VAEGAR

Deflections related to various depths in three typical Swedish road structures were measured. Loadings at the surface were applied by a dynaflect, two different falling weight deflectometers (kuab and vti) and one truck. Deflections of individual layers of pavement and subgrade were determined. This report documents these measurements, made in the years 1985-87 in a joint norwegian-swedish project. Some results are also included in the report. The contribution from the subgrade and the individual layers in the pavement, to the deflections measured at the surface by different devices, has been determined. Different devices were compared, as well as results from different seasons. Backcalculations of the moduli of different layers have been made. Also a comparison between measured deflections and those calculated with the chevron program is demonstrated. Further results will be reported when all the collected data have been analysed. (a)
