THE FEAR OF ACCIDENTS IN CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE: A PSYCHOGENETIC STUDY IN ROAD SAFETY
ENFANCE, ADOLESCENCE ET PEUR DE L'ACCIDENT: UNE APPROCHE PSYCOGENETIQUE EN SECURITE ROUTIERE
The evolution of risk attitudes from childhood to adolescence is investigated in a study of fear. The fear of accidents is considered as a transitional theme between symbolic fears of childhood (phobias) and more abstract, existential anxieties of adolescence. Furthermore, the very polysemic nature of the fear of accidents is related to the expression of different basic categories of anxiety: destruction, guilt and separation. Sex differences also play a part.
