SAAVY NICHE MARKETING ALLOWS CANADIAN BUS MANUFACTURER TO BECOME A FORCE IN SWEDEN
By providing specialty vehicles which can also be used in regular transit, the Ontario Bus Industries has been able to cut out a niche for itself in Sweden thus paving the way for other small and medium size bus companies to rethink their approach to entering foreign markets. Its Orion II bus is a front-wheel drive, low-floor vehicle which is accessible to both the handicapped and the general riding public. The Swedish government was so impressed with the vehicle that it has now requested that the bus company design another vehicle for transit purposes which will be called the Orion V, a 40-foot long, 102-inch wide, heavy duty, gasoline-powered, transit bus, the first of its kind designed especially for city transit in Sweden.
