BICYCLING SCIENCE. ERGONOMICS AND MECHANICS
Part 1 of the book deals with the energy requirements for bicycling and their measurement, the use of data on heat transfer to explain how bicyclists keep cool, applications of muscle power to machinery and various means of bicycle propulsion. Part 2 is concerned with bicycle physics: wind resistance, the wheel and its rolling resistance, resistance to motion due to mechanical friction, braking, bicycle balancing and steering, materials of construction for bicycles. In part 3, a review is presented of other human- powered machines : water cycles, ice and snow machines, railway cycles, air cycles,etc, and man-powered vehicles of the future are described and illustrated. ;TRRL;
