COMPUTER GRAPHICS IN TRUSS-MODEL DESIGN APPROACH
This paper shows how the truss-model approach for analysis of reinforced concrete beams can be simplified and made more efficient by means of the graphics capabilities of the computer. Based on this approach, an interactive computer graphics program has been developed. With this program, the design engineer can sketch the selected truss model using the computer cursor, analyze the results, and revise the selected truss model. The use of the program is illustrated by application to an inverted-T beam under concentrated loads. The limitations of the program are noted.
