MICROCOMUTER APPLICATIONS IN SIMULATED CE PROJECT
A ten-week, in-house practical training program at the Nanyang Technological Insistitute, Singagpore, for students at the end of their second year, is described. In this project, students are requred to play the role of contractors in the costruction of an actual full-scale reinforced concrete structure, and the use of microcomputers has been integrated into the program. The objectives of the program, its implementation, and the problems are described. Time limitation was noted as a problem associated with the program. The integration of the microcomputer computer in the program has increased the students' awareness of its use in the formulation of engineering and managerial decisions.
