EXPERIMENTAL DIGITAL CONTROL OF STRUCTURES
The implementation is described of a digital predictive control algorithm in order to perform real-time control experiments on the seismic structure at the State University of New York, Buffalo. The control algorithm is based on that proposed by Rodellar et al in 1987, extended to include the presence of time delay in the control loop. For the purpose of digital control, discrete-time state model of the experimental closed loop is formulated. Experimental results are presented, and comparisons with numerical simulation results are made. These comparisons assess the robustness of predictive control in the presence of uncertainties in time delay.
