TUNNEL TAXIES UNDER AIRPORT RUNWAY
Described is the construction of a single-track rail tunnel under the airport runway of Stansted in England. Construction involved a route which runs directly across the main runway of the terminal. Therefore part of the tunnel had to be constructed under the runway. Special care had to be taken as construction progressed because the runway had to remain in service at all times.
