PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS A SOCIAL RESOURCE
Public transport is seen as the more viable option for providing adequate transportation service to an extremely mobile society. In order to provide the best possible service, transportation planners must look at both the business economy and the socioeconomic factors of the communities to which service is to be provided. Only after thorough evaluation of the various impacts (environmental, safety, energy consumption, land, user needs, etc.,) of implementing and maintaining a viable public transport system and incorporating these concerns in the planning and maintenance stages, can planners develop a system or systems which will be beneficial to society as a whole.
