SHEAR CUTS CONCRETE AND REBAR
The contractor for the rehabilitation of two three-lane bridges located in Monroe, New York, selected a LaBounty Model MSD 112R mobile shear designed to mount on a 45,000-lb. Komatsu PC-200 hydraulic excavator for bridge deck removal. Total savings for the project using the shear method was $12,640. The shear production rate was 100 to 120 sq ft/hr, with a crew of 6, no equipment rental and minimal use of acetylene. Further details are given in this article.
