HITCH AND STABILITY PROBLEMS IN VEHICLE TRAINS
Hitch and stability problems which arise in the operation of vehicle trains were studied through extensive consultations with users of such equipment and through a review of related published literature. Users generally report that such problems do not occur often but the causes and remedies are not clearly known. There is a lack of fundamental knowledge of the design and operating factors which govern vehicle stability, and there is no way of predicting, with confidence and accuracy, the hitch forces which arise in the operation of vehicle trains.
