DYNAMICS OF SATURATED ROCKS. II: BODY WAVES

This is a study of the propagation of plane harmonic waves in an unbonded, fully saturated, fissured, poroelastic rock medium, on the basis of the double porosity governing equations of motion Beskos (1989). The study revealed the existience of four kinds of body waves, one shear and three compressional, all of them dispersive and attenuated. Numerical results are obtained for various values of the two most important material parameters of the model, namely the porosities and the permeabilities. The study showed that for certain ranges of frequencies, velocity and attenuation of the 2-porosity model are quite different from their values for the single-porosity model. The study findings are presented and discussed.
